Dulaang UP's 43rd Season "HUDYAT: Pagkilala, Pag-alaala, Pagpapahalaga."

The 43rd Theatre Season of Dulaang UP and the 27th Theatre Season of UP Playwrights’ Theatre is a call to arms— a response to the signs of the times and an initiative towards innovation, thus the theme HUDYAT: Pagkilala, Pag-alaala, Pagpapahalaga.



Featured are three plays that are promised to uphold the artistic boldness that the company takes pride in for over four decades. DUP, known not only for its wide range of repertoire but also for being a creative collaboration between theatre professionals and students, offers the first two productions this season. UPPT, founded under DUP to exclusively stage works of Filipino playwrights, offers the third and final production this season.

Six Characters in Search of an Author / Anim na Tauhang Naghahanap ng May-akda

A masterpiece of modern theater written in 1921, Six Characters in Search of an Author / Anim na Tauhang Naghahanap ng May-Akda is a meta-drama revolving around six characters looking for an author to finish their tragic stories. The play takes the audience into a rumination on the distinction between illusion and reality.

Ang Dressing Room: Kung Saan Lubusang Pangungulila ang Dulot ng Agos ng Panahon

After a successful run in 2016, The Dressing Room returns to the Guerrero Stage for Dulaang UP’s 43rd Theatre Season. The play relives the aspirations, memories, and resolutions of four actresses waiting for their cue. By turns tragic and comic, this drama offers insights about actors, the theatre, aging, surviving and moving on. The Dressing Room is produced by special arrangement with playwright Chiori Miyagawa.

Nana Rosa

Nana Rosa recounts the life of Rosa Henson, the first Filipino to publicly come out as a Comfort Woman in 1992. It follows Nana Rosa's story, from her early years in Pampanga, to her capture during the Second World War, going public, and her later years after coming out as a Comfort Woman.
