The Caracol Festival or “Caracol Sa Makati” is today Makati’s version of Mardi Gras, a tribal dancing competition between local schools. Each group, which consists of 30 to 50 members, dress up in flamboyant costume that is usually closely themed with nature.
The Caracol Festival was originally held to be a combined celebration of three ethnic festivals but over the years has evolved to be a unique festival in its own right. It was made the official festival of Makati in 1991 and is today held in Makati’s central business district.
