EVENT DESCRIPTION

Pick up your pens and re-learn your A-BA-KA-DA using one of the Philippine’s ancient writing scripts—Baybayin! In this workshop, you’ll be able to learn how to write and read in Baybayin and be a part of the effort to keep the script alive and spread our rich culture. At the end of the workshop, you’ll also make a keychain by burning Baybayin characters into small wood blocks using a pyrography tool.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:

Jay Aquino (@jayaquino.arts / @jayaquino.tattoo) is a full-time instructor at MAARTSY. She is a graduate from UST College of Fine Arts Major in Painting. Jay began painting when she was 6 years old and hasn't stopped since. She considers herself a traditional and digital artist who loves to paint monochromatic scenes. Jay is also passionate about gaming and handpoked tattoos.
